从CPLD(Complex Programmable Logic Device)起家的Altera，近年来的成长可说是有目共睹，不仅在CPLD市场上仍然掌握半壁江山，在FPGA市场上的市占率亦已接近四成大关。包含美林证券在内的许多投资法人，都对其发展前景抱持着相当乐观的态度。虽然在整体可编程逻辑市场上，Altera仍落在龙头Xilinx之后，但台积电在5月初发表已经交付65nm芯片原型给Altera的消息，却让业界再次见识到，身为老二的Altera有多大的决心要成为市场领导者。
